FAQs
I’d like to commission you. How do I go about it?
Fab! Thank you so much! You can check whether I’m currently open for commissions at the top of this page. I open a limited number of commission slots at a time; you’ll need to apply for one of the available slots, which you can do using the commission form at the bottom of this page. If you’re successful, I’ll be in touch with you to discuss the details of your commission.
What if I don’t get one of your commission slots?
Don’t worry; I'll let you know if that's the case, and you’ll get added to a waiting list which will give you first refusal on a slot the next time I open commissions.
What’s the best way to know when you’re opening commissions?
You can join my newsletter mailing list or my Patreon—both will get advance notice that commissions will be opening. Otherwise, you can follow me on Instagram or Twitter to hear on the day!
What kinds of commissions do you do?
The main types of commission I offer are character art/portraits and illustrated scenes, although if you have something else in mind, I’m always open to discussion!
I will draw:
I will not draw:
I will draw:
- OCs (original characters) and fanart (please note that, unless you hold an officially granted IP license, any and all fanart commissions will fall strictly under the ‘personal use’ category only!).
- Artwork depicting real people and animals (commissions are accepted at my discretion).
- Illustrated scenes.
I will not draw:
- Explicit NSFW content.
- Furry.
- Mecha.
How does the commission process work?
Once we’ve discussed the nature and details of your commission, I’ll send you a final quote for the price. If you’re happy to proceed, the fee is payable upfront, at which point I’ll start work on your commission. The number of approval stages will vary depending on the nature of the piece, but generally speaking, I will send you previews of your commission for sign off at three stages:
- Sketch
- Lineart & flat colours
- Final artwork
This is to ensure that you are happy with how the commission is progressing, and to allow for any minor amendments that are applicable at the artwork's current WIP stage.
Once the commission is finished and you have signed off on the final artwork, I will send you two high-resolution versions of the finished image - one in standard colour format, and one that is suitable for printing.

How long does a commission take?
In terms of exact timing, it depends entirely on what you’re commissioning! But I’ll always aim to have a commission finished and the final artwork over to you within 30 working days. Work on your commission will only commence once payment has been received.
What if I need a commission ready by a specific date?
If you need a commission finished and back with you in a specific timeframe, let me know when we’re discussing the details. I can’t promise I’ll always be able to accommodate a fast turnaround but will do my best if possible. (‘Rush’ turnarounds can be done for an additional fee depending on the circumstances, but if you want something guaranteed for a certain date, it’s always best to let me know in plenty of time!)
Can I ask for changes or adjustments to the artwork?
My prices take into account that you might want a few minor changes or amendments made as your commission comes together. What do I mean by ‘minor’ changes? For example:
- Adjusting the shape of a character’s nose. (Request should be made at the sketch approval stage when the change is easy to make!)
- Adjusting the colour of a garment so that it's a brighter or darker shade of its current colour. (Request should be made at the lineart & flat colours approval stage.)
- Changing a character’s hand position once. (Request should be made at the sketch approval stage.)
- Changing a character’s pose.
- Asking for an additional item to be drawn in.
- Asking for significant changes to a character’s outfit.
What’s the difference between a commission intended for ‘personal use’ & one for ‘commercial use’?
With a commission intended for ‘personal use’, you can do things like post the artwork to social media (with artist credit) or make a print of the artwork to hang on your wall or give as a gift. You can’t, however, use or reproduce the artwork for profit; this would include things like producing prints of it that you intend to sell, or putting it on a t-shirt that people can buy!
With a commission intended for ‘commercial use’, you can do things like reproducing the artwork to sell as prints, use it in for-profit publications (such as a magazine or a TTRPG rulebook), or on merchandising.
For a full breakdown of what ‘personal use’ & ‘commercial’ use entail, please make sure to read my terms of service.
